Areca Palm

The Areca Palm is one of the most appreciated indoor plants for its bright, elegant, and tropical appearance. Its multiple slender, arching stems topped with fine, feathery fronds in a vibrant green color add movement, freshness, and a natural sense of openness to any space. It is highly valued in homes and offices for its ability to soften modern interiors, improve air quality, and create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Key Characteristics & Care

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. It tolerates medium light levels, but low light will slow growth and dull the leaf color. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can cause brown or yellow spotting on the leaves.

Watering:
Moderate and consistent. Keep the soil slightly moist, allowing the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while prolonged dryness causes brown leaf tips.

Humidity:
Thrives in medium to high humidity. In dry indoor environments, especially with air conditioning, occasional misting or the use of a humidifier helps keep the foliage healthy and flexible.

Temperature:
Performs best in warm temperatures between 18–26°C (65–79°F). It is sensitive to cold and drafts; temperatures below 15°C (59°F) may damage the leaves and slow growth.

Pruning:
Requires minimal pruning. Simply remove dry or yellowing fronds at the base to maintain a clean, tidy appearance. Avoid trimming green tips, as they do not regrow.
