Aralia Balfouriana
Aralia Balfouriana, botanically known as Polyscias balfouriana and also called Balfour Aralia or Dinner Plate Aralia, is a tropical indoor plant highly appreciated for its elegant posture and distinctive foliage.
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Variegated varieties require more lighting to maintain their color patterns. Avoid intense direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
Keep the substrate slightly moist without waterlogging. Allow the top few centimeters of the substrate to dry between waterings. It is sensitive to excess water, which can cause root rot, and also to prolonged dryness, which can cause leaf drop.
Humidity:
Requires medium to high ambient humidity. In dry interiors, regular misting or the use of trays with stones and water is recommended to prevent leaf loss.
Temperature:
Maintain above 16 °C. The ideal temperature ranges between 18 °C and 24 °C. Protect from cold air drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Pruning:
Responds very well to pruning, which encourages more compact growth and allows for shaping, even for ornamental bonsai purposes.
